Membership Requirements

Certification Requirements

NTACSA members should be certified by an accredited certification board or have the equivalent in training and experience. Boards actively certifying professionals in Central and South America include:

  1. Alternative and Natural Health Certification Boatd (ANHCB)
  2. Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA)
  3. Detoxification Board (Detox)
  4. The Licence Commission of the Americas (TLCTA)
  5. Life Enhancement Certification Board (LECB)
  6. Natural Therapies Certification Board (NTCB)
  7. Neurotherapy and Biofeedback Certification Board (NBCB)
  8. Nutrition Certification Board (NCB)
  9. Pain Management Certification Board (PMCB)
  10. Peak Performance Enhancement Board (PPEB)
  11. Stress Management Certification Board (SMCB)

Professionals certified by the following boards may qualify to become a Member based on their training and experience. For more information, please contact us.

Professional Requirements

If you are primarily provide acupressure, alternative health, alternative therapies, aromatherapy, biofeedback, holistic health, holistic therapies, homeopath coaching, massage therapy, natural health, natural therapies, naturopath coaching, nutrition coaching, pain management, peak performance, quality of life enhancement, reflexology, shiatsu, spiritual healer or stress management services in your professional health care business, you may become a member of NTACSA.

If you have specific questions about specific professions, please read the following descriptions that we use:

Acupressure is defined as any technique of applying pressure to specific points on the body that is not otherwise defined as massage therapy. Certification in acupressure or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Alternative Health is defined to be any health intervention that is not a part of allopathic medicine. Certification in alternative health by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Alternative Therapies are defined to include, but are not limited to, acupressure, applied kinesiology, cold laser therapy, color therapy, cranial sacral therapy, crystal therapy, detoxification, homeopathy, hypnotism, kinesthetic therapy, light therapy, nutrition, naturopathy, oil drop technique, pain management, passive sound therapy, peak performance, quality of life enhancement, reflexology, shiatsu, sound therapy, spiritual healing, stress management and vibration therapy offered as an alternative to allopathic therapy. Certification in alternative therapies, or any specific therapies listed here, by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Aromatherapy is defined as using essential plant oils. Certification in aromatherapy or the use of essential oils by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Biofeedback services are defined as audio entrainment, A-V entrainment, bioenergetics, biofeedback, bioresonance, CES, Cold laser, HEG, kinesthetic entrainment, neurofeedback, neurotherapy, quantum biofeedback or visual entrainment services. Certification in one or more of these professions by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Detoxification is considered to be a part of any alternative, holistic or natural health or therapies intervention. If detoxification is your primary business, we recommend you join the International Academy of Certified Detoxification Therapists (IACDT). However, you are welcome to join NTACSA.

Holistic Health is a holistic approach to offering alternative health services. See Alternative Health for a list of acceptable professions. Certification in holistic health by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Holistic Therapies is a holistic approach to offering alternative health services. See Alternative Health for a list of acceptable professions. Certification in holistic therapies by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Homeopath Coaching may include any services listed on this page or included in the homeopathic scope of practice defined by the homeopath's certification or license. A homeopath license or certification as an homeopath coach is required to obtain full insurance benefits. Medical homeopaths are referred to the International Medical Association for Natural Therapies (IMANT).

Life Enhancement Coach may include any other alternative, holistic or natural health interventions listed on this page. Certification in quality of life enhancement by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Massage Therapy requires a license in some states and provinces. Otherwise you must be certified by a certification board approved by your jurisdiction. You may also provide any other services listed on this page.

Natural Health is a natural approach to offering alternative health services. See Alternative Health for a list of acceptable professions. Certification in natural health by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Natural Therapies is a natural approach to offering alternative health services. See Alternative Health for a list of acceptable professions. Certification in natural therapies by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Naturopath Coaching may include any services listed on this page or included in the naturopathic scope of practice defined by the naturopath's certification or license. A license or certification as a naturopath coach is required to obtain full insurance benefits. Medical naturopaths are referred to the International Medical Association for Natural Therapies (IMANT).

Nutrition Coaching services are covered if the nutritionist is licensed or certified as a nutrition coach by an accredited certification board. Nutritionists may also practice any other profession listed on this page. Dietician services and medical nutrition services are not covered.

Pain Management services may include any other interventions listed on this page. Certification in pain management by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Peak Performance services may include any other interventions listed on this page. Certification in peak performance by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.

Reflexology is any form of foot therapy not legally defined as massage, podiatry, chiropractic or medical therapy. Certification in a form of reflexology or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for reflexology services.

Shiatsu is an oriental form of foot therapy not legally defined as massage, podiatry, chiropractic or medical therapy. Certification in a form of shiatsu or massage by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits for shiatsu services.

Spiritual Healing using any techniques approved by the Federation of Spiritual Healer Licensing Boards (FSHLB). A Spiritual Healer License from one of the accepted or accredited boards of FSHLB is required to obtain full benefits as a spiritual healer.

Stress Management services may include any other therapies listed on this page. Certification in stress management by an accredited certification board is required to obtain full insurance benefits.
